By [SafeBet.ai Research Team](https://safebet.ai/editorial-policy/) Updated October 23, 2026 [7 sources](https://safebet.ai/nl/sports-betting/licence-check/#sources) ## What the results mean The Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa) licenses online gambling in the Netherlands and lists every licensed company with its brands and websites. It also publishes its decisions against illegal sites. The check sorts every site into one of these groups. - **Licensed in the Netherlands** On the Ksa’s list of companies licensed for online games of chance, for players 18 and over in the Netherlands. Only the websites the Ksa lists are covered. Licensed sites must check Cruks, the national exclusion register, before you play. - **Illegal: the Ksa acted against it** Not licensed in the Netherlands, and the Ksa has fined the company behind it, or ordered it to stop under penalty payments, for offering gambling to Dutch players without a licence. It doesn’t check Cruks, and if it doesn’t pay out there’s no Dutch regulator to turn to. - **Not licensed in the Netherlands** Not on the Ksa’s list of licence holders, so it may not offer gambling to people in the Netherlands. It doesn’t check Cruks, Dutch player protection rules don’t apply, and if it doesn’t pay out there’s no Dutch regulator to turn to. ## Licensed betting sites (25 companies) 25 companies hold a Ksa licence for online sports or horse-race betting, with 27 websites, as of October 23, 2026. A site can carry on under a new address after a decision; if it isn’t on the Ksa’s list of licence holders, it’s illegal. ## Check any betting site yourself in two minutes 1. **Find the company.** A licensed site names the company behind it, usually in the footer. 2. **Search the Kansspelwijzer.** Look the company, brand or website up in the [Ksa’s list of licence holders](https://kansspelautoriteit.nl/kansspelwijzer): the exact website you’re using must be listed. 3. **Check its record.** The Ksa publishes its [sanction decisions](https://kansspelautoriteit.nl/sanctiebesluiten), including fines on licensed companies. 4. **Watch for warning signs.** No Cruks check, no age check before you can play, or deposits in crypto all mean a site isn’t playing by Dutch rules. A licence from Curaçao, Malta or anywhere else doesn’t allow a site to serve Dutch players: it needs a licence from the Kansspelautoriteit. Our guide to [sports betting law in the Netherlands](https://safebet.ai/nl/sports-betting/is-sports-betting-legal/) explains the rules. Check that the Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa) has licensed the company behind it for sports betting and lists the exact website you’re using. The Ksa publishes every licence holder in its Kansspelwijzer; this tool checks it for you. ### Is Polymarket legal in the Netherlands? No. The Ksa ordered Adventure One QSS Inc., which runs Polymarket, to stop offering gambling to Dutch players under penalty payments, and in July 2026 published that Polymarket had broken that order and forfeited €420,000. See [is Polymarket legal in the Netherlands?](https://safebet.ai/nl/guides/is-polymarket-legal-in-the-netherlands/) ### Why does the check flag a brand I know is licensed? Because the address you typed isn’t one the Ksa lists for it. The Ksa lists bet365.nl for bet365, for example, not bet365.com. Use the exact address the tool shows. ## Keep reading [Guide · 4 min **Is sports betting legal in the Netherlands? What you can bet on, and the rules** Yes, with a bookmaker licensed by the Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa), if you're 18 or over: 25 companies held an online sports betting licence on October 23, 2026. Licensed bookmakers may only take bets on the result of, or events during, matches in sports recognised by NOC\*NSF, and on horse and trotting races. Bets on youth and under-21 matches, amateur competitions, yellow cards, corners, own goals and other easily manipulated events are banned, and so are bets on elections, transfers and award votes. Each is scored from 0 to 10 on six weighted criteria, licensing and safety, markets and features, odds and limits, payments and payouts, app and experience, and support and responsible gambling, and the ranking follows the overall scores. Fines, binding instructions and warnings from the Ksa lower the licensing score; we judge odds on what each bookmaker publishes, because their terms forbid automated odds collection; and we don't score bonuses.
