Our verdict: most detailed election markets

8.5 /10

bet365 has the most detailed published rules for betting on Australian elections we found: seat totals for Labor and the Coalition, two-party preferred vote share, seat handicaps settled on the AEC's Declaration of Poll, individual seats and a hung parliament, alongside UK and US election markets and specials such as Eurovision and the weather. It's a bookmaker, so you bet at its fixed odds, with a margin we found no published figure for, and every election bet is a single. Its apps are rated 4.65 on iOS, it pays withdrawals in 1 to 4 hours and answers by chat and phone 24/7; the only Northern Territory fine we found is a small one, and AUSTRAC has published an enforceable undertaking whose details we couldn't read.

What is bet365?

bet365 is one of Australia’s biggest online bookmakers, run here by Hillside (Australia New Media) Pty Limited. Beyond sport and racing, it publishes detailed rules for betting on elections and a range of specials. It ranks #2 in our ranking of the legal alternatives to prediction markets in Australia; for sport, see our bet365 sports betting review.

Is bet365 licensed in Australia?

Yes. Hillside (Australia New Media) Pty Limited, company number 148 920 665, is licensed and regulated by the Northern Territory Wagering Commission, and bet365.com.au is on ACMA’s register of licensed interactive gambling providers.

Its record: on April 9, 2025 the NT Racing and Wagering Commission fined it $13,430 in a customer’s dispute, for failing to interact appropriately with the customer in March 2021, declared bets after that date unlawful and ordered the deposits returned. AUSTRAC, the financial-crime regulator, ordered an external audit of bet365’s compliance with financial-crime laws in 2022 and has since published an enforceable undertaking under which bet365 is overhauling its anti-money-laundering systems; AUSTRAC’s site was unreachable to us, so we couldn’t read the details. Event markets

bet365’s politics rules cover Australian and New Zealand, UK and US elections. For Australia they set out markets on the outright winner, settled on the party that provides the Prime Minister after a federal election, the Premier after a state election or the Chief Minister after a territory election; total seats for Labor and the Coalition in the House of Representatives; party seats by state; two-party preferred vote share, settled on the AEC’s final result; correct election result and seat handicap, settled on the AEC’s Declaration of Poll; individual seat winners; and a hung parliament. Every bet on a given election is a single: multis accepted in error are settled as singles.

Its specials include Eurovision, snow and warmest-city markets, the hottest Australian capital on Christmas Day, settled on Bureau of Meteorology data, reality TV shows and Sports Personality of the Year. A Northern Territory decision of February 24, 2025 shows that bet365 took bets on the 2020 US presidential election. What you can bet on depends on Australian rules: the Northern Territory declares elections, awards, economic statistics and other events as betting events, and South Australia publishes its own, shorter list of approved events, which also applies to interstate operators.

Pricing

As a bookmaker, bet365 sets fixed odds with a margin built in; we found no published figure for its margins. You can’t lay an outcome or set your own price, as you can on the Betfair exchange. Online in-play bets on sport are banned in Australia; bet365 takes them by phone, using a Quick Code from its app, on 1800 365 365, 24/7.

Deposits and withdrawals

You can deposit by debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay from $5, PayID from $10, PayPal from $50 and bank transfer from $100, with no fee for debit card deposits; licensed providers can’t accept credit cards or crypto. Withdrawals by bank transfer, debit card, PayPal or PayID are quoted at 1 to 4 hours, and bet365 says it aims to process them within 2 hours, with no daily maximum. Accounts left inactive for more than a year are charged a $5 monthly administration fee after 28 days’ notice.

App and experience

bet365 Sports Betting is rated 4.65 out of 5 from 67,603 ratings on the Australian App Store, and 4.6 from 266,626 on Google Play, a listing bet365 uses in several countries (October 23, 2026).

Safety, responsible gambling and support

You can set deposit limits over 24 hours, 7, 14 or 30 days, with increases taking effect after 7 days; reality checks; time-outs from 24 hours to 30 days, or a custom period; and self-exclusion from 6 months to permanently. bet365 checks BetStop, the national self-exclusion register, when you sign up and every time you log in, and emails a monthly activity statement. Live chat and freephone support on 1800 200 365 run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Free, confidential help: the National Gambling Helpline on 1800 858 858, 24/7, and our guide to gambling help in Australia.

Who is bet365 best for?

  • Punters who follow Australian elections closely, with markets on seats, vote share and a hung parliament.
  • Anyone who wants help at any hour, by chat or phone.
  • Not for punters who want to set their own price or lay an outcome.
