How we research, rate and update our rankings and reviews, where our facts come from, and how SafeBet.ai makes money.

Updated

Who we are

SafeBet.ai is built by a small team of data analysts, AI engineers and sports bettors in Maastricht, The Netherlands. Since 2021 our models have analyzed 30,088 matches for our AI sports picks. We apply the same data-first approach to our country guides: rankings of the legal prediction markets, online casinos and sportsbooks, in-depth reviews, and plain-English guides to the rules, fees and taxes.

Rankings, reviews and guides are published under the name SafeBet.ai Research Team. Company details: SafeBet, 6211 BJ Maastricht, VAT NL862523680B01, [email protected].

How we research

  • Primary sources first. Licensing and regulatory status come from the regulators themselves (in the US: the Commodity Futures Trading Commission for prediction markets and each state’s gaming regulator for online casinos), court records, and operators’ own terms, fee schedules and help centers.
  • Reputable reporting second. For news, market data and legal developments we use established outlets and industry publications, and we note when sources disagree or a question is legally unsettled.
  • Every page lists its sources with the publisher and date, and shows when it was last updated.
  • We don’t invent experience. We don’t publish fake user reviews, made-up ratings or testing we didn’t do. When we cite a number — a fee, a bonus, a withdrawal time — it comes from the operator or a named source.

How we rate and rank

Each operator is rated from 0 to 10 on a fixed set of weighted criteria per category. The overall score is the weighted average, and it is shown on every review together with the rating for each criterion, so you can see exactly why an operator scored the way it did.

  • How we rank prediction markets — Regulation & safety (25%), Markets & features (20%), Fees & pricing (20%), Liquidity (15%), Deposits & withdrawals (10%), App & experience (10%).
  • How we rank online casinos — Licensing & safety (20%), Game library (20%), Welcome bonus & promos (15%), Payouts & banking (15%), App & experience (15%), Rewards & loyalty (10%), Support & responsible gambling (5%).

What we cover — and what we don’t

We only rank operators that are licensed or regulated for customers in the market we cover. In the USA that means CFTC-regulated exchanges and brokers for prediction markets, and state-licensed operators for real-money online casinos. In Canada, it means the investment dealers the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) allows to offer event contracts, plus online casinos and sportsbooks registered in Ontario (with the AGCO, through iGaming Ontario) or Alberta (with the AGLC), and the provinces’ own sites. Because Ontario’s advertising standards keep bonus offers on operators’ own sites, our Canadian pages don’t list or score bonuses, and we never promote sites that take Ontario players without an AGCO registration. In Spain, it means online casinos licensed by the national gambling regulator, the DGOJ, and we link only to the Spanish websites on its register. In Serbia, it means online casinos approved by the Games of Chance Administration, and we link only to the one website each approval covers. In Germany, it means slot sites and sportsbooks on the official whitelist of the Gemeinsame Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL), at the .de addresses it lists; we don’t list or score bonuses there either, and because German law bans online slot and casino advertising from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., our links to slot sites only work from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., German time. In the United Kingdom, it means online casinos, sportsbooks and betting exchanges licensed by the Gambling Commission, at the web addresses its public register lists for them; we don’t list or score bonuses there either, and for prediction markets we rank licensed betting exchanges, because event betting in Great Britain needs a Gambling Commission licence. In the Netherlands, it means online casinos and sportsbooks licensed by the Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa), at the websites its list of licence holders names; we don’t list or score bonuses, our Dutch pages carry the statutory warning “Wat kost gokken jou? Stop op tijd. 18+”, and we never link to a site without a Dutch licence, not even in a source. In Australia, it means online betting services on the register of licensed providers kept by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA); online casinos and pokies can’t be licensed there, so we rank none and link to none, our Australian pages carry a mandatory wagering tagline, and we never link to a site on ACMA’s blocked list. We don’t rank offshore or unlicensed sites, and we explain the risks of them in our guides.

Where online betting isn’t legal, we don’t publish rankings or link to operators at all. In Brazil, which banned fixed-odds betting and online casino games in September 2026 and bans offering event contracts on sports and politics to people in Brazil, we publish legal and safety guides only. Spain treats prediction markets as gambling that needs a Spanish license, and none holds one, so we don’t rank or link prediction markets there; we explain the rules in our Spain guides instead. Germany doesn’t allow bets on political, economic or social events at all, so our German pages explain the law on prediction markets but don’t rank or link to any. The Netherlands allows bets only on sport and horse racing, so our Dutch pages do the same. Australia doesn’t license prediction markets either, but allows licensed bookmakers and the Betfair exchange to take bets on approved events such as elections, so our Australian pages rank those legal options instead.

Updates and corrections

Regulation, fees and promotions change often. We re-check a page when an operator changes its terms, enters or leaves a state, or when a regulator or court acts, and every ranking keeps an update history. If you spot an error, please tell us — we correct factual errors promptly and note material changes on the page.

Advertiser disclosure: how we make money

SafeBet.ai earns money from subscriptions to our AI sports picks and from partnerships with some of the operators we write about. When you sign up with an operator through a link on our site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are marked as sponsored and pass through our /go/ redirect.

Partnerships can influence which operators we feature and the order in which they appear on a page. They don’t change the facts we report: every review follows the methodology above, cites its sources, and covers the drawbacks as well as the strengths. In Serbia, where the law requires comparative advertising to be objective and verifiable, and in Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Australia, the order of our ranking follows the overall scores. In Germany, where the law bans pay for gambling advertising that depends on revenue, deposits or stakes, our pay never does. Our Canadian pages are general information, not investment advice, and SafeBet.ai isn’t registered with any Canadian securities regulator.

How we use AI

We are an AI company, and we use AI tools — including large language models — to help gather sources, compare terms and draft pages. Facts are checked against the cited sources, and our team is responsible for everything we publish.

Responsible gambling

Gambling and trading on prediction markets involve the risk of losing money. Online casinos in the US are only for players who are 21+ and located in a state that licenses them; prediction markets require you to be at least 18+ (21+ on some platforms). If gambling stops being fun, call or text 1-800-MY-RESET or read our responsible gambling guide.
