betr review 2026

Deposit limits and loss limits, withdrawals within hours at weekends too, well-rated apps on iPhone and Android, and a clean record with its Tasmanian regulator, but a $100,000 payout cap.

#4 of 5 best sports betting sites in Australia

Our verdict: deposit and loss limits

8.0 /10

betr suits punters who want firm control over their betting. As well as deposit limits, it lets you cap your losses over 24 hours to 30 days, and it pays withdrawals to fast-payments banks within a few hours, weekends and public holidays included. Its apps are rated 4.56 on the App Store and 4.5 on Google Play, it offers same-game multis of up to 12 legs and Sky Racing, and we found no action against it by the Tasmanian commission that licenses it. What holds it back: payouts are capped at $100,000, its pages don't state support hours or offer live chat that we could find, and the brand's former operator and BlueBet, whose customers moved to betr, collected fines in NSW, Victoria and the Northern Territory.

What is betr?

betr is an Australian online bookmaker run by betr Entertainment Aus Pty Ltd. It has taken over the customer accounts of three other operators: NTD Pty Limited, betr’s former operator, Merlehan Bookmaking, which ran TopSport, and BlueBet. It ranks #4 in our ranking of the best betting sites in Australia.

Is betr licensed in Australia?

Yes. betr Entertainment Aus Pty Ltd (ABN 42 607 521 835) is licensed by the Tasmanian Liquor and Gaming Commission to take bets by phone and online, 24 hours a day, and betr.com.au is on the register of licensed interactive gambling providers kept by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). It’s the only bookmaker in our top five that isn’t licensed in the Northern Territory.

We found no action against betr Entertainment in the Tasmanian commission’s annual reports for 2022–23 to 2024–25 or its quarterly disciplinary lists for 2025–26, and no ACMA action in the releases we could read. The brand’s history is less clean. In April 2023, Liquor & Gaming NSW announced that betr had been fined $210,000, through 14 penalty notices, over inducements in its promotional material at its launch in 2022, the largest fine it had issued to a wagering operator for inducements; betr was then run by NTD Pty Ltd. The NT commission fined NTD $20,655 in November 2022 and $55,080 in February 2023 for contacting self-excluded people, and $17,952 in May 2025 for letting a self-excluded customer open a new account. BlueBet, whose customers have moved to betr, was fined $53,380 by the NT commission in July 2025 for missing a customer’s red-flag behaviour and not recording a call in 2021, and $50,000 by a Victorian court in April 2024 for gambling ads displayed on or above public roads in 2022. Sports, markets and features

betr covers AFL, NRL, cricket and racing among other sports, with head-to-head, line and margin bets; margin betting is available on AFL, rugby league, rugby union and basketball. Its same-game multis take up to 12 legs, its multis 2 to 12 legs, mixing racing and sport, and its same race multis up to 4. Cash out is offered on selected sports singles and fixed-odds multis, and on some live events. betr shows Sky Racing 1 and 2 in its app; we found no sport streams.

In-play bets on sport are taken by phone only, as Australian law requires, on betr’s sport line, 1800 797 558. Our guide to sports betting law in Australia explains the rules.

Odds and limits

betr doesn’t publish its margins, and we don’t collect its odds: its terms ban any automated means of accessing, retrieving or scraping its website. Our margin calculator shows what any market costs you.

Its limits are lower than those of the bookmakers above it: the most betr will pay out is $100,000 on Australian racing, sports or multis, and $50,000 on racing outside Australia. The minimum bet is 50 cents online and $20 by phone.

Deposits and withdrawals

You can deposit from $5 by debit card, PayID or PayPal, instantly by Apple Pay or Google Pay, or by bank transfer, which takes 1 to 48 hours. betr doesn’t charge card fees, and each deposit must be bet through once before you can withdraw it.

If your bank accepts fast payments, betr says your withdrawal should arrive within a few hours of your request, weekends and public holidays included; other banks take 1 to 2 business days, and PayPal up to one business day. In South Australia, local law means you can’t cancel a withdrawal.

App and experience

The betr | Sports Betting App is rated 4.56 out of 5 from 23,252 ratings on the Australian App Store, and 4.5 from 3,904 ratings on Google Play, with more than 100,000 downloads (October 23, 2026).

Safety, responsible gambling and support

As well as deposit limits, betr lets you set loss limits, over 24 hours, 7, 14 or 30 days; its help page says all such limits are subject to a 7-day cooling-off period. You can take a break of 24 hours, 7, 14 or 30 days, exclude yourself temporarily or permanently, or register with BetStop, the national self-exclusion register, which its responsible gambling page explains. New customers must be verified when they sign up, or they can’t deposit or bet.

Customer service answers on 1800 002 387, with separate lines for racing and sport bets, and by email. betr’s pages don’t state opening hours, and we found no live chat, which is why it scores 6.5 for support. Free, confidential help: the National Gambling Helpline on 1800 858 858, 24/7, and our guide to gambling help in Australia.

Who is betr best for?

  • Punters who want to cap their losses, not just their deposits.
  • Punters who want their money at weekends, within hours.
  • Not for punters who bet big: payouts are capped at $100,000.

Our verdict

betr combines loss limits, quick withdrawals and well-rated apps with a clean record with its Tasmanian regulator in the reports we checked. Low limits, unstated support hours and the fines collected under its former operator and by BlueBet keep it fourth. Compare it in our Australian ranking, or see the best betr alternatives.
