Is Kalshi available in Canada?
Not on Kalshi itself: Kalshi's member agreement lists Canada as a restricted jurisdiction where members may not trade event contracts. But Canadians can trade a subset of Kalshi's contracts, the economic, financial and climate ones, through Wealthsimple Predict, which sends every order to Kalshi, and through Interactive Brokers, which lists some Kalshi markets. Sports, elections and contracts listed for less than 30 days aren't available.
Key takeaways
- Kalshi's member agreement lists Canada among the restricted jurisdictions where members may not trade event contracts.
- Wealthsimple Predict, launched in July 2026, routes every order to Kalshi's order book, offering thousands of its economic, financial and climate contracts.
- Interactive Brokers Canada also lists Kalshi markets, 148 of them on October 22, 2026, at US$0.02 per contract.
- Canadians get no sports, entertainment or election contracts, and only contracts listed at least 30 days before they mature.
- Kalshi's official address is kalshi.com; treat any “Kalshi Canada” app or site with suspicion.
The short answer
Not on Kalshi itself. Kalshi is a US exchange regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and its member agreement lists Canada among the restricted jurisdictions where members may not trade event contracts. But you can trade some of Kalshi’s contracts legally from Canada, through the two dealers allowed to offer event contracts:
- Wealthsimple Predict, which sends every order to Kalshi;
- Interactive Brokers, which lists some Kalshi markets next to its own exchange, ForecastEx.
Either way, you only get the economic, financial and climate contracts that Canadian rules allow.
Why you can’t trade on Kalshi itself
Event contracts are derivatives in Canada, and only dealers registered with the provincial regulators and authorized by the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) may offer them. Kalshi isn’t registered here, so it keeps Canada out: its member agreement has listed Canada as a restricted jurisdiction since at least October 2025, and Kalshi told CBC in October 2026 that it checks identity and residency when people sign up.
Kalshi through Wealthsimple Predict
On June 18, 2026, Wealthsimple and Kalshi announced Wealthsimple Predict, a standalone app that went live in late July. It offered nearly 4,000 Kalshi contracts at launch and now lists “thousands”, in three categories: financial markets, economic data and climate. Wealthsimple routes each order through a clearing agent to Kalshi’s order book, where market makers usually take the other side; Wealthsimple says it doesn’t set prices or take positions.
The app carries no Kalshi branding. It charges Wealthsimple’s own fee, US$0.02 per contract on every buy and sell, accepts the age of majority in your province (18 or 19), and takes Interac e-Transfers. Read our full Wealthsimple Predict review.
Kalshi through Interactive Brokers
Interactive Brokers Canada mainly offers contracts on ForecastEx, the exchange it owns, but its Canadian site also listed 148 Kalshi markets on October 22, 2026, 137 of them available only on Kalshi. The Globe and Mail reported that IBKR charges US$0.02 per contract on Kalshi markets, against US$0.01 on ForecastEx. You need to be 21 and to request the forecast and event contracts permission. What Canadians get compared with Kalshi in the US
| Kalshi in the US | Kalshi contracts from Canada | |
|---|---|---|
| Who you deal with | Kalshi | Wealthsimple or Interactive Brokers |
| Sports and entertainment | Yes, in most states | No |
| Elections and politics | Yes | No |
| Daily and weekly contracts | Yes | No: only contracts listed at least 30 days before they mature |
| Trading fee | Formula peaking at 1.75¢ per contract at 50¢; most maker orders free | Flat US$0.02 per contract |
| Currency | US dollars | US dollars, so converting from Canadian dollars costs extra |
| Investor protection | US rules | CIRO dealer, CIPF member |
The Canadian version is narrower and, on cheap contracts, dearer: the Globe and Mail worked out that 100 contracts at 1¢ cost US$0.63 in fees on Kalshi but US$2 on Wealthsimple Predict. On mid-priced contracts the fees are close. What you gain is a regulated Canadian account.
Watch out for fake “Kalshi Canada” sites
Kalshi’s official address is kalshi.com, and Kalshi doesn’t serve Canadians directly, so be wary of any app or website offering “Kalshi Canada”. We found at least one site, kalshi-ca.ca, presenting itself as a Kalshi app site; it isn’t one of Kalshi’s official addresses. Type addresses yourself, install apps only from the official store listings, and check any site with our legit check, which flags lookalike addresses.
Which way in is best for you
- You’re 18 to 20, new to this, or want instant Interac funding: Wealthsimple Predict.
- You’re 21 or older and trade regularly: Interactive Brokers, which adds ForecastEx’s markets at US$0.01 per contract and converts currency cheaply on larger amounts.
- You want sports: neither. Use your province’s betting site.
Our head-to-head comparison goes through the differences in Canadian dollars.
Frequently asked questions
Can I open a Kalshi account from Canada?
You can't trade on Kalshi itself: its member agreement lists Canada as a restricted jurisdiction for event contracts, and Kalshi told CBC it checks identity and residency at sign-up. To trade Kalshi contracts legally, use Wealthsimple Predict or Interactive Brokers.
Is Wealthsimple Predict the same as Kalshi?
It's Kalshi's Canadian channel: Wealthsimple announced the partnership with Kalshi on June 18, 2026, and every Predict order goes through a clearing agent to Kalshi's order book. The app carries Wealthsimple's branding, charges its own US$0.02 fee per contract and offers only the contracts Canadian rules allow.
Can I bet on sports with Kalshi in Canada?
No. Canadian dealers aren't allowed to offer sports or entertainment contracts, and regulators said in August 2026 that those belong under provincial gambling rules. Sports betting is legal through provincial sites and, in Ontario, private sportsbooks registered with the AGCO.
Is it cheaper to trade Kalshi contracts through Wealthsimple or Interactive Brokers?
Both charge US$0.02 per Kalshi contract. The difference is the currency conversion: Wealthsimple charges 1.5% on conversions under $10,000, Interactive Brokers 0.2 basis points with a US$2 minimum. For small one-off conversions Wealthsimple costs less; for a few hundred dollars or more, Interactive Brokers does. Our fee calculator runs your numbers.
Is Kalshi cheaper in the US than through Wealthsimple?
On cheap contracts, yes. Kalshi's US fee is a formula that peaks at 1.75¢ per contract at 50¢ and falls toward the extremes, while Wealthsimple charges a flat 2¢. The Globe and Mail worked out that 100 contracts at 1¢ cost US$0.63 in fees on Kalshi but US$2 on Predict.
