What is Betano?

Betano is the betting brand of the Kaizen Gaming group and, according to its app listing, an official partner of FC Bayern München. In Germany it offers sports betting and slots. It ranks #3 in our ranking of the best betting sites in Germany.

A note on our sources: Betano’s German site blocks visitors from outside Germany, so this review relies on the GGL whitelist, Betano’s app listings and a February 2026 Internet Archive copy of its terms.

Is Betano legal in Germany?

Yes. The GGL whitelist lists Betkick Sportsbetting Limited, based in Malta, as licensed for online sports betting at betano.de since February 19, 2021, with its current licence dated December 16, 2022, and for virtual slot machines since May 31, 2023. One inconsistency: the copy of Betano’s terms we read names Betkick Sportwettenservice GmbH of Hohenzell, Austria, as the provider. The licence that counts is the one on the whitelist. We found no public warning against Betano on the GGL’s site as of October 22, 2026. Check any site with our German licence check.

The betting tax: only on winning bets

Betano’s terms (section 5.2) say it pays the 5.3% betting tax on all stakes to the tax office, doesn’t charge it when you bet, and deducts it as a fee only if your bet wins. So a losing bet costs nothing extra, and a winning €100 bet at odds of 2.00 pays back €194.70 instead of €200. Our betting tax calculator compares this with books that pay the tax themselves.

Sports, markets and features

Betano covers football, tennis, basketball, the NFL, volleyball and more, and its app highlights a bet builder (several markets from one game in one bet), cash out on singles and accumulators before and during games, a personal MyLive page, bet sharing and WettMentor bet suggestions. Its terms set the minimum stake at €0.20 and publish maximum net winnings per bet: €300,000 on results in top football competitions such as the Bundesliga and Champions League, €100,000 on markets such as over/under, handicaps and correct score there, €25,000 on other match markets and €5,000 on off-pitch markets, with lower caps in second-tier leagues. Its terms also say the betting programme can differ from state to state.

Streaming is unclear: Betano’s German-language Google Play listing offers free streams to verified customers with at least €0.20 in their account, while its English-language listing says streaming isn’t available to users in Germany.

Deposits and withdrawals

Betano’s app listings name Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Klarna Sofort, Betano Cash and credit cards. Its terms say fees may apply depending on the method, withdrawals can only be requested on the website, not by phone or email, and are “usually free of charge”; you must verify your identity within 30 days, and can’t withdraw before. Betano doesn’t publish minimums or withdrawal times in the sources we could read.

App and experience

Betano’s apps are among the most used in Germany: 4.68 out of 5 from 20,235 ratings on the App Store and 4.48 from 126,238 on Google Play, with more than 5 million downloads (October 22, 2026).

Safety, responsible gambling and support

Betano offers deposit, loss and session-time limits (lowered at once, raised after 7 days), OASIS self-exclusion from your account or through customer service, and the legal safeguards: the €1,000 monthly LUGAS limit and the 24-hour lock. We couldn’t check its support channels or hours from outside Germany.

Our verdict

Betano has the features and the apps, and only taxes winning bets, which puts it third. What it doesn’t publish about withdrawals and support, and the mismatch between its terms and the whitelist, keep it behind Tipico and Winamax.
