What is William Hill?

William Hill is a bookmaker with an online sportsbook, the William Hill Vegas casino and betting shops. Online, all of it is run by WHG (International) Limited, registered in Gibraltar. It ranks #4 in our ranking of the best betting sites in the UK.

Is William Hill licensed in the UK?

Yes. WHG (International) Limited has held a Gambling Commission licence for remote betting on real and virtual events, pool betting, casino and bingo since November 1, 2014 (account 39225, licence 039225-R-319373-015), and www.williamhill.com is on the Commission’s public register.

Its record is the weakest in our top five. On March 28, 2023, William Hill businesses agreed to pay a record £19.2 million for social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures, £12.5 million of it from WHG (International) Limited; the Commission said the failings were “so widespread and alarming serious consideration was given to licence suspension”. On August 7, 2025, it was fined £82,687 for not taking reasonable steps to identify customers who also held accounts with other companies in its group, a breach it found and reported itself. Sports, markets and features

William Hill’s help centre and app listing cover football, horse racing, greyhounds, tennis, golf, cricket, rugby, ice hockey, darts, boxing, snooker, esports, politics, virtual sports and Tote pool betting, plus 5-minute football markets. You can build your own bet with Bet Builder, though a single void selection voids the whole bet, or request a price with #YourOdds.

Cash out is available on selected markets for singles and multiples, but partial cash out “isn’t available yet on the new version”, and there’s none on each-way bets. A cash out is capped at £50,000 on singles staked under £20,000 and on all multiples. WHTV streams sport to customers who are logged in with a positive balance or a bet in the last 24 hours; live racing needs a £1 bet on the race, and the free Betting TV channel shows selected UK and US racing and UK greyhounds.

Best Odds Guaranteed is by invitation only. Invited customers opt in from a UK or Irish race card; bets on the win market, including each-way, placed from 8am on race day are then paid at the starting price if it’s bigger, up to £25,000 extra a day. Odds and limits

William Hill doesn’t publish its margins, and we don’t collect its odds: its terms ban bots and other automated systems, and allow its content to be used for “personal, non-commercial use only”. Our margin calculator shows what any market costs you.

Its limits are among the most generous we found. The minimum unit stake is 3p on singles, doubles, trebles and other multiples, and 1p on accumulators of four or more selections. Maximum winnings per customer per day, excluding your stake, are £1,000,000 on the Premier League, the EFL, the Scottish Premiership, LaLiga, internationals, the World Cup, the Champions League and Europa League, and on the main win and each-way markets of top-class UK and Irish races; £500,000 on the Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, the lower Scottish divisions and other major competitions; and £50,000 on Bet Builder and #YourOdds bets.

Deposits and withdrawals

You can deposit from £5 by debit card, Pay by Bank or Apple Pay, from £10 by PayPal, Skrill or Neteller, with a paysafecard account, or in cash at a William Hill shop with William Hill PLUS. William Hill charges no card fees, and UK customers can’t use credit cards.

Card and Pay by Bank withdrawals start at £5. Visa Direct cards are paid within 4 hours, at weekends and on bank holidays too; Pay by Bank takes from immediately to one working day, and other debit cards 1 to 3 working days. Once requested, a UK withdrawal can’t be reversed. One catch: if your account goes unused for 13 months with money in it, William Hill charges £3 a month after first trying to return your balance.

App and experience

William Hill’s iOS app is rated 4.67 out of 5 from 200,164 ratings on the UK App Store; its Android app scores lower, 4.24 from 33,097 ratings on Google Play (October 22, 2026). The app shows football stats alongside the odds and tracks each leg of a Bet Builder live. With William Hill PLUS, you can also track and cash out bets you placed in a shop.

Safety, responsible gambling and support

You can set daily, weekly or monthly deposit limits and session time reminders, take a time-out of up to 42 days, self-exclude for 6 months to 5 years, or close your account. Session time reminders of at most an hour are compulsory for UK customers playing casino games. William Hill runs affordability checks through third parties, which won’t affect your credit score but may appear as a search on your credit file, and it takes part in GAMSTOP and GamProtect.
